Dr. Phil Laplante is internationally renowned for his outstanding contributions to the field of software and systems engineering. He has made significant impacts through his research, teaching, and service in areas such as artificial intelligence, critical infrastructure systems, image processing, and real-time systems. He has published 40 books and more than 350 scholarly works. His body of work includes definitive texts in Requirements Engineering, Real-Time Systems and Technical Writing . These and many of his other books are used as in universities around the world. His recent text on Chaos, Fractals, and Dynamical Systems was written for use in homeschooling.

Phil has more than 40 years of experience as a senior technology leader in development, research, teaching and administrative roles (including as board member, president, vice-president, director). He has worked in industry, academia and government and is an Emeritus Professor of Software and Systems Engineering at Penn State. He is a licensed professional engineer in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
